Runtime:  134min
Rating:  M18 for some drug use and a scene of violence.

Brought in by Singapore Film Society, this is the first time Foxcatcher screens in Singapore. Perhaps the cold and hostile nature of the film, did not favour any major distributors in Singapore. However, this terrific film, it ought to be missed.

Based on true story, the characters, Mark Schultz (Channing Tatum), Dave Schultz (Mark Ruffalo) and John du Pont (Steve Carell), are brought together by the sport wrestling. It then unfolds the dark and shocking that you wouldn't believe that it actually exist in the sport history.

The film goes in a meditative manner, giving still and close up shot of the characters. Creating a third person view, where you observe the characters action and inactions. You will slowly discover the unique connections between the trio. Amazed by the robotic and detached movement of Steve Carrell in this movie, he who was widely known as a comedian, perfectly brings out John's coldness.

Nothing particular exciting like your blockbuster movies, but meddling more on the psychological part in the subject matter. It takes time to developed the characters, revealing bits of the characters at a time. I am sure it will intrigue you from start to end.

I would rate this movie 4/5.
